Touro Law Center presents the 2007 Annual Goods & Services Auction, recognizing Anthony T. Ballato, Esq. as a public service attorney of the year

Anthony T. Ballato ’88 is an advocate for the underdog and is not afraid of taking the difficult or unusual case. His career started in law school as a volunteer for Nassau-Suffolk Law Services and he continues to take cases from the Volunteers Lawyers Project.

The first case undertaken by Anthony in his solo law practice following his years as an associate attorney with a prestigious Manhasset firm was to represent (without charge) two elderly Massapequa residents to restore their electricity in the winter and procure other much needed emergency assistance. Anthony has a long list of unusual and high-profile cases that he personally handled; including, among others, a lawsuit to compel the U.S. Tennis Association to furnish specific choice season tickets to not-for-profit tennis association, right-to-die cases, ‘Lemon Law’ cases, and a multi-million dollar lawsuit against a social worker for filing false allegations against a parent pending a divorce.

His successful $2M civil case that punished a man found guilty of bilking 50 Long Islanders of their retirement savings was featured in Newsday and The New York Law Journal in 2004.
